Steam supply solutions that provide temperature and humidity according to the project curing cycle for precast concrete elements, either in a chamber or under a cover.

## Process requirements

In precast production, curing conditions are determined together with the concrete mix, element geometry, formwork, initial temperature and target strength plan. Steam can help provide temperature and humidity within a suitable cycle; however, rapid or irregular heating, large temperature differences and uncontrolled cooling can create quality risks.

## How does the solution work?

Low-pressure steam is supplied to the curing chamber or under a suitable cover through a distribution line. Nozzle placement, sealing, air circulation and condensate management are planned to support exposure of the elements to similar conditions. Temperature records are monitored at different points, and the cycle is managed according to the programme defined by the concrete specialist.

- Pre-waiting, controlled heating, holding and cooling stages
- Recording of temperature distribution inside the chamber or cover
- Safe management of the steam line, drainage and condensate water

## Information required to determine the correct capacity

The mass of the concrete and formwork in a cycle, element dimensions, initial and target temperatures, permitted heating time, chamber or cover volume, insulation, ambient conditions, formwork stripping schedule and number of consecutive production cycles should be provided. Reliable selection cannot be made based only on chamber volume in cubic metres.

The concrete mix design, curing programme and strength acceptance must be determined by the customer’s engineering team or an authorised concrete specialist. A specific strength or formwork stripping time cannot be guaranteed by the generator alone.

## Frequently asked questions

**Is steam curing the same for every precast product?**

No. The concrete mix, element thickness, formwork, initial conditions and target strength programme change the cycle.

**Can the curing generator be selected according to chamber volume?**

Chamber volume is only one input. Concrete-formwork mass, target temperature, duration, insulation, ambient conditions and the production schedule must also be taken into account.

**Is steam supplied directly to the concrete surface?**

The distribution must be designed to prevent localised overheating or irregular condensation on the surface. The exact nozzle and line arrangement is determined according to the chamber and product layout.

**Does steam curing guarantee strength?**

No. Steam supports a controlled curing environment; the accepted strength is verified through the concrete mix design, cycle, measurements and relevant tests.
